Who Needs Dough When You Can Have "Dump Cake"?

If you read my love/hate relationship with dough you will know yesterday I was in a bit of a quandary! My cousin, Pamela came to my rescue with this, better than cobbler any day recipe!! It was a major hit and today I am making another buttery sweet goodness for my family today! I am going to give you this recipe that is titled “Dump Cake”. It calls for vanilla ice cream or for you to make a whipped cream, but Cool Whip is just as good and easier!! Hope you enjoy it!

”Dump Cake”

Ingredients you will need:

2 cans of Cherry Pie Filling (or you can use one can of the pie filling and one can of UNDRAINED crushed pineapple…20 oz can)
1 box yellow cake mix
2 sticks of salted butter
cinnamon to taste

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a 13×9 baking dish dump your cherry pie filling and the can of pineapple. Only use 1 can of the cherry pie filling if you use a can of pineapple. My family is not a fan of pineapple so I use 2 cans of the pie filling instead. I then add cinnamon and about 3 tablespoons of melted butter. Mix well. Sprinkle the yellow cake mix onto the top of your cherry mixture. Add two sticks of butter by cutting butter into slices and distributing them evenly over the cake mix. Bake for 45 minutes or until the top looks crisp as it does in the picture. I think I actually baked mine for 48 minutes….as you know ovens vary! Add whipped topping or ice cream when it is done and enjoy!! If you don’t care for cherries you can use any pie filling including pumpkin! Hope you love it!!
