Be a Stepping Stone, Not a Stumbling Block

In the Old Testament, the way an enemy overtook a fortified city was by sneaking up to the cities water supply at night and adding small stones to the public well. They did this until the well was totally stopped up and the people of the city succumbed to dehydration. This is what the enemy tries to do to us, too. He uses small “things” to dry the anointing within us up.

Those “things” may be people, busy schedules, demanding jobs, our own unrealistic expectations for ourselves. Whatever form it takes, the outcome is still the same. We push aside our prayer and Bible time. We coast on Sunday for a couple of days and then we begin to “feel” it. It begins to show up subtly at first, and then everything just seems overwhelming! What has happened? We are drying up at the “Source”! God is our source as we saw in the earlier post. Having an open line of communication isn’t just a good idea, it is imperative!

Some time back a study was done linking patients that had been prayed over and had the word of God spoken to them along with their medicine and medical treatment versus patients that were only given medication and treatment of one type or another. The rate of recovery for the patients that were prayed for and given words of faith and hope recovered at twice the rate of speed as those who had not had this advantage. Doctors then began to look seriously at man’s “psyche’” and how the mind goes hand in hand with the physical body. They also found in this study that over 95% of sickness is generated from and could be traced back to feelings of GUILT! When I heard of this study, I was quite surprised. I have been in various churches as a speaker and as well as one who has attended them and I can tell you from experience, much of the misery and hurt I have heard at altars have sprung from GUILT! People who know God has forgiven them, but either they can’t forgive themselves or family or friends will not let that person forget their past!

Guilt is like a poison! When people are always bringing up your “washed away, thrown as far as the east is from the west, never to be remembered against you again” sins or missteps, they are not empowering you, they are creating a stumbling block or stoning up your well of anointing! You have to stay prayed up and read up in God’s word to overcome these obstacles! You can’t say, “Well, I will coast on what my minister said on Sunday. I am too busy to do those things everyday.” If you want any form of victory in your life, YOU are going to have to take control of your personal growth through prayer and study and practicing being in the presence of God EVERYDAY!! And, just as importantly, you have to forgive yourself and others!

There are no do overs in the past. That is why Paul said he had to forget what “lies behind and press on to the high calling!” You cannot change your beginning, BUT with God’s help you CAN change your life from ”here on in” my mother always says. Carl Bard, the famous writer, once said, ”Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”

In letting go, my dear reader, you are gaining. God wants you to be released from the prison of your past and move forward in liberty. You determine with your faith in God and being a doer of His word how far you will go, or how long you will sit. Keep walking on the “stepping stones” and don’t be a stumbling block to yourself or anyone else! Great things await you! Your future is bright in Him!

Blessings to you, my precious reader!! I will see you soon!
