Give God All the Glory!
“ I am the Lord; that is My name! And My glory I will not give to another….” Isaiah 42:8
I had a pastor who was first called to be an evangelist. He had travelled with several other evangelists and music ministers. God eventually did call him to come back to his hometown and pastor because of his family. He told a story one day of his evangelistic days that I shall never forget. While in a large city my pastor was holding a revival in, he heard of an old friend and fellow evangelist he used to travel with. The man had been a tremendous minister and my pastor liked him very much. It had been several years since he had seen him and he found out the hotel he was staying at and called and asked him if he would care to visit. The minister was excited, and readily agreed.
My pastor met the other evangelist at his hotel room and they began to reminisce about old times and the great things God had done in the meetings they had been in together in the past. My pastor asked him what God was doing now in the various revivals he was holding. Instead of the man saying anything at all about God he began to say, ” I AM” doing this and “I HAVE” met with certain ones and “I AM” doing that, etc.” He continually spoke of himself and did not mention God at all! Suddenly, God spoke to my pastor and said, “Get out of here now!! He is taking My glory and has put himself in danger! Never come near this man again!” My pastor obeyed immediately! In the middle of one of the man’s sentences my pastor said, “I have to go!” He made his way for the door and never looked back, not caring what the man thought. Three months later this man was killed in a car wreck. My pastor said he knew it was because the man no longer gave God the glory, but took it for himself!
We my friend, as it says in the book of Job, have never made a sun or a moon to shine. We have never made a crocodile and caused its jaws to remain shut. We did not put the stars in the galaxy. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and so is THE GLORY of His mighty works!! Nothing we may “do” did we do on our own! God gave us the intellect, ability, and even when we didn’t know it, the leading to accomplish, invent, and procure great things. The glory is still God’s!!!
My pastor was praying recently and he felt in his spirit a literal turning in the realm of the Spirit. When it happened God spoke to him and gave him two directives. The first one was NEVER TAKE MY GLORY! Things in the church are going to begin happening, people will realize things and accomplish things they have never dreamed of. Be sure to tell them DO NOT TAKE MY GLORY! I the Lord have caused it to come to pass.”
The second thing God told my pastor was “In all that is going to happen, NEVER LOSE YOUR UNITY OR THE LOVE WALK I HAVE PLANTED IN THIS CHURCH! When unity is lost so is the dream and the vision, for without unity there is confusion and where there is confusion there is every evil work. There is no longer a “sanctified” work, and it cannot continue to come to fruition!” Amazing God speaks first and foremost of keeping His glory in the right place…WITH HIM!
My friend it bears repeating, no matter what you have accomplished in life, if it is of any worth at all the glory of that work belongs to God! As we give Him glory, He in turn will promote us to even greater things because it is an act of humility and God ALWAYS promotes humility!! 1 Peter 5:6 says, “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time He will lift you up in honor.” You can’t beat that!
I appreciate you stopping, by dear reader! Have a blessed day, all day and I will see you soon!
