The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower. Psalm 18:2
God is EVERYTHING you need and He will supply EVERYTHING you need. We get into a great deal of trouble when we make our jobs, our mates, our friends, our family, etc. the source of our worth, our financial and emotional security, and everything else only God can always be to us and provide for us! The Bible tells us that “he who puts his trust in the arm of the flesh is doomed for disappointment!”
Recently, my husband and I did not see eye to eye on a certain matter. I began to feel he had not given me “a fair shake” about this particular matter. I began to be greatly bothered by this, and before I knew it, in my mind I had magnified the situation into something that wasn’t entirely fair to him. From this situation came offshoots of worry, misunderstanding, and literally a place of disharmony where there had been unity. What was the problem? I had thought too much on the negativity of the situation instead of letting it go and realizing God would PROVIDE understanding where I could not even if I had talked “until I was blue in the face”! I will not go into details on this, but I will say this, I was expecting things from my husband, that I should have expected from God! This was part of my frustration. I was expecting from people only what God Himself could give me!
This past Wednesday night, my pastor handed out a sheet that contained his notes. He is teaching on “Prayer” and it has been one of the best teachings I have ever heard. On this sheet he had subtitles and one of them was “God…Who is He?” He then began to list the Hebrew names of God and what they meant. I will list them for you as follows:
Jehovah Jireh–He is our PROVIDER! Genesis 22:1; Philippians 4:19
Jehovah Rapha–He is our HEALER! Exodus 15:26; 1 Peter 2:21-24
Jehovah Nissi–He is our BANNER! Exodus 17:15; Acts 11:26
Jehovah M’Kaddesh–He is our SANCTIFIER! Exodus 31:13; Hebrews 13:12
Jehovah Shalom–He is our PEACE! Judges 6:24; Ephesians 2:13-16
Jehovah Raah–He is my SHEPHERD! Psalm 23:1; John 10:11-14
Jehovah Tsidknu–He is our RIGHTEOUSNESS! Jeremiah 23:6; 2 Corinthians 5:20-21
Jehovah Shammah–He is PRESENT! Ezekiel 48:35; Hebrews 13:5-6
In the first scripture listed on each is the promise of each name, in the second is the Covenant promise of what HE IS! When we begin to look to people to fill these roles in our lives, we can be greatly disappointed which in turn can open the door to great fear! For instance, if someone is a housewife and her husband brings all income into the home, the wife can see her husband as her provider, or source. But, what if her husband isn’t a good husband and doesn’t provide in the way he should and she is a born again believer? God will see to it EVERY SINGLE need she has is supplied. Where people fail us, God more than makes up the difference!!
Today, my dear reader, keep your confidence in the one Who can NEVER fail you or disappoint you! God, the Father is called ”Father” for a reason. A good father supplies his children with all they need and good things that can just be desires besides! Remember, He is your source and He will NEVER let you down! Remember you are blessed and not cursed! Jesus took the “curse” of sin for you and part of that curse is lack, whether it be emotional, physical or financial lack! Remember, EVERYTHING you commit to Him is going to be alright! Keep your confidence placed in the one Who can never fail you and let peace flood your mind!
Thank you for stopping by today, precious reader. Have a blessed day knowing you are secure in Him!!
