It Matters Where and What You Are Plugged Into

Tonight I could not sleep so I decided to peruse the internet. The only problem was I could not access the internet! I began to think, “Oh, no! This cannot be happening with a second brand new computer!!” Since it is the middle of the night I don’t have my husband (men don’t have menopausal issues like sleepless nights, if you didn’t know!) to help me and I have to fix this thing on my own!

The first thing I did was find my router support number. I called it and got a really nice lady that had me digging for wires, trying to find electrical plugs in my husband’s office that also serves as “the junk room”. We are on the phone for so long (my fault since I could not find half the plugs this dear lady needed!) my phone begins to lose it’s battery life! I say in utter desperation, “Please, call my cell phone I am about to lose you and I DO NOT EVER want to go through this again!” She sweetly does as I ask!

She begins to ask me very hard questions like, does the cord I have plugged in say “Internet”. I look. I can’t see because I don’t have my glasses on….they are in the bedroom with my sleeping husband and sleeping Gracie!! Yikes! Only me!!!! Suddenly I spot my husband’s bifocals. Now, I’m cooking! The only problem here is his head is larger than mine and I can’t keep them on. I am having to put the phone on intercom, hold his glasses on my face in place, and look at black writing on a black background to see if it says “Internet”. I find out after much praying for God’s help, it doesn’t! Ann (that is the sweet lady’s name) asks me to please plug it into the right port and if she can take over my computer. I wanted to ask, “What took you so long to ask this beautiful question?? Of, course you can!!!” At that point I gave her permission to work her intellectual magic! What took me almost an hour to do, she did in less than ten minutes! She had me up and running, and of course, blogging!

Now, if you have ever read my blog before, I always equate practical life experiences with “God” experiences. I thought to myself, how many times do we get plugged in at the wrong place and can’t establish good connections? Just like my computer wouldn’t work because I was plugged in to the wrong port, we can do that as people, too. Was something wrong with the computer? No. Was something wrong with the modem or router? No. What was wrong was the wires weren’t where they should have been and couldn’t do the task of connecting to the internet, which in turn, caused me MUCH trouble!!

It is so important you are connected to the place and people God has for you. How do you know if you are in the right place and with the people God has made ready to set up relationships with? You will sense it in your spirit! You will establish relationships that build you up and not tear you down. You will be encouraged, not discouraged! You will be considered an equal, not someone of lesser quality and importance! There is no “hierarchy” in God! We are all the equal, just used in different capacities. If you want to find your “place” in the body of Christ, follow your passion!!

I sing like Edith Bunker of “All in the Family”. It is atrocious! But, I have no wish to sing. I LOVE music, but only to listen to. Singing isn’t my gift! If someone said, “We need people in the choir desperately!” should I feel guilty and say, “Well, if no one else will do it I will give it a shot.” NO! We would all be miserable! God will bring someone with that gift to fill that place! Many times this is where “burn-out” comes from. We are trying to work or “plug in” where we are not anointed to be! What is even worse, here come people who have little to no wisdom and condemn you for not “completing what you started”.

The Bible tells us emphatically, God will MAKE ROOM for our gift! Follow your anointing by following your passion! Always have a serving heart, but make sure it is what God is calling you to do, not what people are PRESSURING you to do! You will know the difference because if it is God you will have peace about it! Everyone will be happier in the process! Stay plugged in to the “right port”.

God bless you, dear reader! Thank you for dropping by! I will see you again soon! Have a blessed day, all day!!!
