It is one thing to hurry life along and get ahead of God; It is another thing altogether to work and work and never get there at all! The best thing is to follow God’s leading and let Him get you where you need to be right on time!
We just got back to Texas from Oklahoma from seeing my son graduate from RHEMA BIBLE TRAINING CENTER with his diploma in Pastoral Ministry. Traveling from our home to Tulsa, Oklahoma should only take about eight hours. It took us 12 or 13 or maybe even 14 hours, I was so tired I can’t recall it exactly, BOTH ways!
When we set out we had an Atlas, a GPS, and two men who seem to know magically every road from here to Timbuctoo just by looking north, south, east and west…. UNTIL now! I cannot tell you how many times we got lost! We didn’t just get lost! Name it and it happened, practically!
My mother and I are extreme planners. Every “i” is dotted and every “t” is crossed! I plan things, literally six months in advance. Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today?? My mother isn’t that extreme, but she comes close! Not even planning ahead prepared us for this trip!
On your journey in this life, no matter how well we have prepared, no matter how much we know, and no matter how much we have “experienced” over the years the unexpected sometimes happens. Only God knows the future and it is extremely important that we are listening to the right voice, obeying the directions He is giving us, and we are “riding” with people who know the way! We will stay ”on course” just by just doing these three things. Let me give you a prime example.
Graduation night finally arrives. My son had to pick up a buddy that had his graduation gown and he told us EXACTLY how to get to the Tulsa Convention Center. ”Turn left on Hwy 51 when you leave the restaurant and it will take you straight there. It is only 12 miles from here.” Forty-five minutes later we still were not there. Thank God we started out two hours early! We learned the hard way there is a “Tulsa Convention Center” and a “Tulsa Civic Center”! We call information, put in the address the operator gives us and start following what the GPS is telling us. It ends up we aren’t headed to the Tulsa anything! We were headed out of Tulsa! I call information this time. I ask the operator for the address again. We put a totally different address in the GPS (I swear those things are overrated!). We head in the opposite direction. Suddenly, we realize we are headed east and we should be headed west! My dad at that point is completely aggravated! He is the one driving. He starts to ask a million questions, my husband tries to guess the answers, my daughter (who is in the backseat with my husband and me) tries to point in the direction to go, as though my father has eyes in the back of his head, my mother starts to laugh hysterically at the situation, and I do the smart thing and begin to cry and wail, “I’m not going to get to see my baby graduateeee!!!”
Finally, in the worst part of town imaginable, my father pulls into a gas station and my husband gets out to ask for directions. You know it is bad when a man decides to ask for directions. Oddly enough a detective happened to be in the station and told my husband exactly how to get there. We had not even gotten close. That one wrong turn had caused chaos, upset, flat out frustration, and made us late in the process! I don’t know why we didn’t just turn around and go back when we realized we were going the wrong way! So much time could have been saved if we had. Thank God, we finally made it and I was able to see the entire ceremony!
We do this in our spiritual lives as well. We get on the wrong road, head in the wrong direction, listen to the wrong people, and in the process delay all the great things God has destined for us to do. Then instead of taking responsibility for it and turning around and start heading back in the right direction, people get mad at God and fault Him for it! I simply do not understand that part at all!
My precious reader, today be sure God is your GPS, so to speak. Be sure you are listening, obeying, and letting Him direct you. The trip will be much faster and without unnecessary delays! You will be full of much joy and not frustration along the way and you will get there right on time! It is so easy, many people miss it!
Have a blessed day, my dear reader! Thank you for taking your valuable time to read my blog! I truly appreciate it! I hope you come back soon!

And what I love about God, is that He has His perfect plan-- Plan A, so to speak-- and when we get off track through our rebellion and pride, He "works all things for good.." and even though we might have to go through some extreme roadwork or bad roads, He says "recalculating!" and gives us a new and improved Plan A, which will still lead us where He wanted us to be all along!
ReplyDeleteI heard Kenneth Copeland teach that very thing one time. There is ALWAYS hope and a way made with God! Thank for reading! I appreciate it!
