“I will speak ill of no man, but all the good I know of everyone.” Benjamin Franklin
I write a great deal on the things we say. The Bible is full of commands and warnings about what you say! It says that literal “life and death” is found in the tongue. You will have what you say! It likens the tongue to being capable of producing literal life, death, a raging fire, kindness, healing, breaking someone down, building someone up, peace, extending the years of your life, and this is only naming a few!
Have you ever heard someone say, “Oh, there is a stomach bug going around and I ALWAYS get stomach viruses!” Sure enough this person always seems to have trouble with their stomach! I have heard others say, “Well, heart trouble runs in my family. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parents all had it, so it is in my genes to have it, too!” Where is the problem in this? It goes directly AGAINST what the Bible says about you!
When we become born again Christians the Bible tells us we are made brand new, old things have passed away, and God then becomes our Father and the blood of Jesus flows in and through us. His DNA is perfect. Now you may say, “But, that is speaking of the spirit not your physical being!” If that is the case why does it say over and over that we shall have what we say and life and death is in the POWER of our tongues? Why would the Bible say “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, BUT HE DELIVERS THEM OUT OF THEM ALL!” You don’t have to have anything that isn’t the perfect will of God and sickness is not His will. If it was, Jesus wouldn’t have died to give you healing! God NEVER does anything against Himself or His word! Why would He heal in one place and make you sick in others? This isn’t even Biblical. It is learned from those who did not know any better, bless their hearts!
Did you know you can literally change the course of your life by what you speak? James 3:3 says, “If we set bits in the horses’ mouths to make them obey us, we can turn their whole bodies about.” It is important what you are saying. It actually affects your future! This is good news, my dear reader! If you are not where you want to be, you can pray and start “confessing” a better today and even better tomorrows!
If you speak negativity over your child, guess what you are going to get? Negative behavior, But, if you speak blessings and faith over your child, guess what you will get? A child that will grow up to be all God meant for them to be! I have prayed for years for blessings to be upon my children and for them to be wise beyond their years. I prayed they would make good decisions and right choices! Because I obeyed the word and what it says about speaking, I know it has made my children who they are today! I have a son who is graduating this Friday with his certification in Pastoral Ministries and a daughter who graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences and is headed to medical school. But more importantly than that, I have two children who serve God with all of their hearts and that is the highest success of all!!
Well, let me get back on course with what we say about others, which is our “wisdom quote”. This is in the word, too. Colossians 3:8 says, “But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.” This is a very hard thing to do, especially when we have been wronged by other people. Have you ever noticed that talking about what someone has done to you NEVER makes it better? It only makes you ANGRIER! It never helps, only hinders you spiritually and puts you in a bad mood!
One time, I attended a church where someone became very angry with me over a situation that was actually none of their business. It was about one of my children and a decision my grown child had made. I knew that the Holy Spirit had spoken to my child concerning this decision and had spoken to my husband and me as well! Several other confirmations came from the Holy Spirit saying my child was doing the right thing! There was no doubt about this, my friend. Instead of this particular person calming down and staying in their place, they let me have it with both barrels. They didn’t just criticize me in the decision, they criticized my husband and my grown child in it, too. They said very hateful and hurtful things that stung me to the core of my heart! Someone who had been my friend had now turned on me savagely! Instead of just talking to my husband about it, I “vented” this to another person. The more I “vented” the angrier I got! My heart began to beat faster, my head began to hurt, and I felt terrible spiritually! It wasn’t building me up to “vent” it was tearing me down physically and spiritually!! I was only making it worse and not correcting anything, and I was doing it to myself by my own words! I had to repent and get this straight! I did repent and I also made apologies and when I did, my peace of heart returned and my physical body came back in line as well!
Keep your tongue under the control of the Holy Spirit, my dear reader. Your life and your environment will literally be changed, even turned around, if that is what you need! Determine to speak only good! Ask God to put wisdom on your tongue. You will be amazed with the outcome! Have a blessed day, all day and thank you for taking your valuable time to stop by!
