There is Peace in the Midst of the Storm

My Redbud tree was uprooted by a storm this morning.

The wind was so strong, it literally uprooted it!
A huge branch blown into my yard from a neighbor's house.

Another view of the uprooted Redbud tree.

22 One of those days He and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, Let us go across to the other side of the lake. So they put out to sea.
23 But as they were sailing, He fell off to sleep. And a [g] whirlwind revolving from below upwards swept down on the lake, and the boat was filling with water, and they were in great danger.
24 And the disciples came and woke Him, saying, Master, Master, we are perishing! And He, being thoroughly awakened, [h]censured and [i]blamed and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; and they ceased, and there came a calm.
25 And He said to them, [Why are you so fearful?] Where is your faith (your trust, your confidence in Me—in My veracity and My integrity)? And they were seized with alarm and profound and reverent dread, and they marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this, that He commands even wind and sea, and they obey Him?
26 Then they came to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.  Luke 8:22-26 AMPLIFIED BIBLE

I slept exceptionally well last night.   I had no idea how well until my daughter walked into the living room and told me there was a huge limb laying in our yard.  I went out to see and before we could get totally out the door we saw one of the trees in our yard had been completely blown over!  I had not even been aware there was a storm in the night, much less one of such great wind speed!

I was going to write on the wildflowers of Texas, but God changed that!  He reminded me of this scripture of when Jesus and His disciples got into the boat.  Jesus told them to get in they "were going to the other side".  Now, Jesus is Divine!  He knows the beginning  to the end in your life.  He is "the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end" the Bible tells us.  Jesus knew storms could arise, along with various other unplanned things to hinder what He had set out to do!  Does this sound familiar?  Sure enough, it did!  But, where was Jesus?  Was He up with a pail baling out water?  Was He frantically screaming out at God, "Why didn't you tell me there was a storm on the way?   I wouldn't be in the middle of the sea about to drown if You had!"  Did he say, "Well, guys it was nice knowing you and it has been a good ride!"  No!  Jesus knew his authority and the authority He had given his disciples to use in His name.   If you are a born again believer, you have that same authority, too.  Jesus said the things He did we would do also and greater because He was leaving us with HIS authority through HIS name!
Jesus had a goal.  That goal was to "get to the other side".  He was not worried or disturbed by anything that might come up to try to hinder that goal.  He was sound asleep in the hull of the ship.  He was completely oblivious to the storm, because He knew the storm didn't matter, His goal WOULD be accomplished.   When Jesus says something is going to happen, NOTHING the devil has or can try to do is going to stop it.  Jesus slept peacefully during the wait.  He knew He had nothing to be concerned about.
Now the scripture tells us the wind was of hurricane proportions. Living in Texas, we have had two major hurricanes hit us in the last seven years.  We evacuated but when we got back we saw the devestation.  It wasn't just from the hurricanes, but from tornadoes that the hurricanes spawned as well.
Many times in our lives, when we are walkling through a trial, there are "subtrials" , if you will, along the way.  Have you ever heard someone say, "It just seems like everything started going wrong all at once?"  Hold tight in faith and stand still, my dear reader, because God's plan for your life will be brought to pass.  The Bible says when you have done all you can do you simply stand (in faith).   Thank God, we were safe and all was well both times the hurricanes hit!  All was well!
This was the first thing we hear Jesus say after the disciples woke Him up and asked if He cared they were about to die.  Jesus looked at them in frustration.  Why?  Because, He said they were going to the other side and all they had to do was have faith in what He said.  It is so simple.  Now you are seeing why my blog is titled "simplyjuliana".   Life is simple, even in the hardest of times;  simply BELIEVE God's word!  You are going to get to the other side of whatever it is you are facing!  There is another scripture that says everything the Lord has not planted He will uproot.  Isn't it amazing that even in storms, God will blow away what is not from Him in our lives.  I love that!  To blow away is to utterly make an end of!
Get ready, my dear reader!  This too shall pass and you will see the end of whatever hard time you are going through!  Happy times WILL come again.  Be at peace and rest in the midst of it all.  God has you!  Have a blessed day, all day!
