Bubba Watson

I know absolutely nothing about golf.  Actually, if you want to know the truth, it is the most boring sport EVER in my opinion.  I cannot tell you even one person who has ever won the "Masters" (whatever that is) UNTIL today!  Today I know a man by the name of Bubba Watson, who had no fame whatsoever a week ago, is now on CNN making grown men and news reporters from a network cry!  A CNN reporter crying?  That within itself is a miracle!   I learned a little about this man.  He and his wife just adopted a son, his father died of cancer a year and a half ago (which is why he plays with a pink golf club to raise cancer awareness), he wore all white because he volunteers with children who have special needs, he is friends with Tim Tebow, and is also a born again Christian, and never dreamed or expected to win the masters.  It amazes me that Mr. Watson never took one thought of himself.  He was representing everyone BUT himself.  He said the single hardest thing to do was to stay focused on the game and not on what was going on with others around him and their needs.  How different from people who want to be God's "stars" instead of God's children and servants!  They promote themselves saying all the while, "If my ( not God's but THEIR) ministry is well known I can reach more people!" and all sorts of rubbish like that.  "And I, if I (meaning Jesus, not myself)  be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.  John 12:32 KJV.  Bubba Watson was not lifting himself up.  Bubba Watson wasn't even "expecting".  He was just showing the love of God.  Oh, how I love when and "underdog" takes center stage and then says, "Next week this will be over, and I will be changing diapers!"  He still refused to draw attention to himself but was thinking of who would need help, compassion and assistance in the weeks to follow!  I think it all goes back to humility.  It is the humble that get exalted and promoted, but what is so wonderful about that is they don't take the promotion for themselves.  They don't seem to care one bit about being famous or well thought of, or rich. Humble people don't NEED recognition.   They just go to the next level and say, "Wow, look at how many more people God can use me to help because I am at a new level!"  We don't get exalted to feel better about ourselves, to be seen of men, or to get riches.  We get promoted to new levels to touch more lives for GOD!!  What a great example of the ongoing ministry of JESUS CHRIST, Mr. Watson is showing.  Let us strive to allow him to be an example, and emulate CHRIST and all HE stands for, and when promotion does come, let it be with the attitude of  "WOW, look at how many more people God can use me to reach for His glory and NEVER my own!!"
